Common questions
- How do I save a spell from TikTok?
- In TikTok, tap Share, then choose Mortar & Moon. The link and creator are saved, and the app looks up the video's public caption for you. If it can't, paste the caption instead. Then add a screenshot of the steps, and we'll fill in the spell for you to check.
- I'm a creator. How do I have my credit link removed?
- Email support@mortarandmoon.com with your handle and the link. We remove your credit from saved spells on request, within 3 business days.
- Why doesn't it read the TikTok video by itself?
- For now the app uses what you give it (the link, your screenshots or pasted text) plus the video's public caption, which it looks up from the link. It can't listen to videos yet, so for a spoken spell, turn on captions in TikTok and screenshot the lines, or jot down the key parts. That keeps things simple and respects creators.
- Can I save from a book?
- Yes. Tap the + button, choose Photo, and take a picture of the page. Your book photos stay private.
- The draft got something wrong.
- Every draft is yours to edit before you save. Tap any field to fix it. If an ingredient matched the wrong pantry item, tap it and pick the right one; the app remembers next time.
- Will I lose my spells if I get a new phone?
- No. Your grimoire is backed up to your account. Sign in on the new phone and it comes back.
- Can I use it offline?
- Yes. Saved spells open without a connection. New saves finish when you're back online.
- How do I turn the Monday note on or off?
- Settings > Weekly note. If it says notifications are off, tap Open Settings and allow them.
- Does the app tell me if an herb or stone is safe?
- No. The app links to trusted sources (NIH, ASPCA, poison control) so you can check for yourself. Nothing in the app is medical or veterinary advice. Always check with a doctor, vet or other professional before eating, drinking or using an herb around pets or during pregnancy.
